Google has announced a new OS for old computers and laptops

The American corporation Google has introduced a new version of the operating system Chrome OS. This is stated in the company’s blog on February 15.

The system is called Chrome OS Flex and is designed for older computers and laptops that previously ran MacOS or Windows.

As the site kp.ru notes, the new operating system will work more efficiently on computers under the age of 13, as it is optimized for weak hardware.

Its interface will be similar to Chrome OS, but some functions will be unavailable. It will depend on the specific computer.

Currently, the new OS is at the testing stage, but ordinary users can already download it.

Earlier, on February 16, Deputy Head of Roskomnadzor (RKN) Vadim Subbotin, during an expanded meeting of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, said that the RKN was ready to take measures against foreign companies that had not yet begun to comply with the law on “landing” by the end of February. In particular, we are talking about a ban on advertising, writes RT.

So far, Apple and Spotify have fully complied with the law. TikTok, Likeme, Twitter, Zoom, Viber partially obeyed. Ignored the requirements of the law Google, Meta, Discord, Twitch and Telegram.

As recalled by the Zvezda TV channel, earlier Roskomnadzor announced that 13 Western Internet companies are required to open their representative offices in Russia by January 1, 2022. The corresponding law was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 1, 2021. It entered into force on January 1 of this year, writes Moscow 24.

Earlier in February, Internet Ombudsman Dmitry Marinichev, in an interview with the Radiotochka NSN Telegram channel, noted that Apple is interested in commercial “expansion” in Russia, so it is quite natural to comply with the requirements of the so-called “landing” law.
